Ingredients
  

Liquids
  • 1 bottle dry white wine 750 ml
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 0.333 cup spiced rum
  • 0.25 cup brandy
Sweetener
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Fruit & Spices
  • 1 apple thinly sliced
  • 1 pear thinly sliced
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise pods

Method
 

Liquids
  1. In a large pitcher, whisk together the dry white wine, apple cider, spiced rum, brandy and brown sugar until the sugar has dissolved.
Add Fruit & Spices
  1. Stir in the sliced apple, pear and orange along with the cinnamon sticks and star anise.
  2. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to overnight.

Notes

I found that stirring the sugar in at room temperature helps dissolve it fully.
Chilling for at least 4 hours yields best flavor, though I’ve chilled up to 12 hours with great results.
Leftovers stored in the fridge are best consumed within 48 hours to maintain brightness and safety.
