Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta until al dente, drain.

  2. Brown sausage in skillet, add onion and garlic. Stir in tomatoes, sauce, and seasoning. Simmer.

  3. Mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan in a bowl.

  4. Layer pasta, sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella in baking dish. Repeat.

  5. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

Can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen. Try swapping in veggies or other proteins for variety.
