Spaghetti Bolognese

: A rich, hearty spaghetti Bolognese made with ground meat, tomatoes, and herbs. Perfect for cozy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef or mix of beef & pork
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 carrot finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil & Parmesan for serving

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet, sauté onion, carrot, and celery until softened.

  2. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.

  3. Stir in garlic and tomato paste, cook 1–2 minutes.

  4. Add crushed tomatoes, broth/, herbs, and bay leaf. Simmer 30–40 minutes.

  5. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti in salted water until al dente. Drain.

  6. Toss pasta with some sauce, serve with extra sauce on top.

Notes

Sauce can be made ahead and frozen. Add a splash of milk for extra richness.
