Ingredients
Method
Meat Sauce
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until onion is translucent and garlic is fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Stir in salt, pepper, and spaghetti sauce; bring to a simmer and cook 5 minutes to thicken.
Assembly
- Arrange bread bowls on the baking sheet and spoon meat sauce evenly into each.
- Top with mozzarella and Parmesan, ensuring the cheese covers the sauce edge to edge.
- Bake until cheese is bubbling and golden, about 10–12 minutes. Let cool 2–3 minutes before serving.
Notes
Prep testing: I found that toasting the bread bowls before filling prevents soggy bottoms.
Cooking testing: Simmering the sauce an extra two minutes yielded a richer, thicker texture.
Storage testing: Leftovers reheat best covered with foil in a 350°F oven for ten minutes.
